Groundbreaking set for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board has approved the Certificate of Need application for the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, clearing the way for groundbreaking in April 2008. The facility will be named in recognition of Ann Lurie’s $100 million gift, and is scheduled to open in 2012. Discovering cancer’s "molecular switches"

Each year, cancer claims the lives of more than 2,200 children in the U.S. At Children’s Memorial Research Center, physician-scientist David Walterhouse, MD, is studying how normal cells receive "signals" that cause them to turn into cancer cells. His findings may lead to the development of new and more effective cancer therapies. Read more »
