Understanding your child's bills
We know medical bills can seem complicated. We want to help families understand their bills, and financial responsibilities. To help answer specific questions, families can call the areas listed below.
Before you call, it helps to know:
For example, if your child has an x-ray:
-
The hospital sends a bill for the facility, equipment and clinical staff; and
-
The doctor's medical group sends a bill for the expertise it takes to interpret the x-ray and the time it takes to share findings with the doctor who ordered it.
Both the hospital and medical groups submit bills to the insurance companies families share.
