Children's Memorial named one of the 100 best places to work by Modern Healthcare magazine
September 17, 2008 - Children’s Memorial Hospital has been named one of the 100 "Best Places to Work" in health care by business magazine, Modern Healthcare. Almost 240 healthcare companies participated in the first-ever health care workplace listing. The magazine revealed the specific ranking of the 100 best in its October 27 edition.
Modern Healthcare conducted this program to recognize outstanding employers in the health care industry on the national level. Employees were randomly selected for a survey on their work experience. Employers also completed a survey detailing company policies, practices and benefits, and demographics. Eight core areas were analyzed including leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, training and development, and pay and benefits.
Children's Memorial has long recognized the needs of its employees through company-wide benefits and programs to ensure retention and advancement. It also focuses on flexible scheduling, part-time hours, and an innovative child and elder care program.
Each year since 2005, Children’s Memorial has been named to Working Mother’s top 100 employers in the nation and was ranked ninth out of “The Top 25 Best Places to Work” in the most recent survey by Chicago magazine.
The largest pediatric hospital in Illinois, Children's Memorial provides specialists in every known pediatric specialty. As the pediatric educational facility for Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, these physicians saw more than 102,000 children last year.
U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Children's Memorial as the top pediatric hospital in the state. The American Nurses Association also recognized Children's Memorial as the first hospital in the state — and the first pediatric hospital in the nation — to receive its prestigious Nursing Excellence Magnet Award.
