October construction update
Children's Memorial Hospital continues construction on Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago at 225 E. Chicago Ave.
General Work Update:
The 1st, 2nd, 11th and 12th floors, which are primarily the spaces that will be open to the public, are in the final stages of material installation and will begin finishing work this month. Exterior work continues as well, with the sidewalks and planters being installed. The sidewalk on Chicago Ave. is now open to pedestrian traffic, and we anticipate an opening of the Superior St. sidewalk late-November.
October Activities:
Street construction in front of Lurie Children’s on Chicago Ave and Superior St. began in September and is on track for completion in mid-October.
The week of October 3, both Superior St. and Chicago Ave. will be milled and repaved with asphalt. Striping is also anticipated to be completed during this week.
Finally, the permanent traffic signals will be installed and programmed at the Chicago & Mies Van Der Rohe intersection in October.
Work Schedule:
All construction work will continue to occur Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to late afternoon or early evening, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to late afternoon. Work on Sundays may also occur as required for timely completion of the project. Due to lane closures, phasing, equipment, etc. for the work, some traffic congestion can be expected – especially during rush hours. All dates & times are City of Chicago permit and weather dependent. All work will be performed consistent with the City noise code requirements.

Children's Memorial held its Annual Construction Update meeting about construction plans for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Hospital leaders and our construction management team presented plans and answered questions about the new building.
