Visiting hours and information

Sending a card or gift is easy through our hospital gift shop.

Visits by family and friends help the healing process but please note that our policies and hours vary by floor. For example, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have more specific visiting guidelines.

General visiting hours: 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. everyday

  • Up to four people, including parents or guardians, are permitted at the child's bedside
  • Per the Illinois Department of Public Health, children under 12 cannot visit patients in isolation
  • To ensure the health and safety of patients and staff, visitors who have the following symptoms will not be allowed to visit:
    • Runny nose or nasal congestion
    • Sore throat
    • Cough
    • Fever or 100°
  • Please contact the charge nurse on your child's floor about cases that may need exceptions.

Practice simple hygiene, wash your hands

Wash your hands

Clean hands are the most important factor in preventing the spread of pathogens and antibiotic resistance in health care settings, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To highlight the importance of hand-washing, the hospital runs an internal hand hygiene campaign, "Wash Well. Wash Often." for all employees.

To stop the spread of disease and maintain an infection-free environment, we ask all visitors to:

  • Wash your hands — before, during and after all visits — with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers
  • Cover your nose and mouth in your sleeve if you cough or sneeze
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent spreading germs
  • Wait at least one month if you have, or have been exposed to, any contagious disease such as chicken pox, measles, tuberculosis, mumps, whooping cough or strep throat
