Play for May
Play for May is raising funds to support Kawasaki Disease research at
Children’s Memorial Hospital. Join May’s family and friends for a day of music and memories as they celebrate the life of May Aldrin.
May was 4 years old when she was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease. After her diagnosis, she spent a month at Children’s Memorial Hospital going through a series of treatments. After being released prior to her 5th birthday, May was released and went back to a life that was ruled by Scooby Doo, kindergarten and birthday parties.
September 20, 2008 marked the first “Play for May” and featured May singing “Eight Days a Week”, by The Beatles. May’s doctors, nurses, researchers, friends, neighbors, family and classmates came out to support Kawasaki Disease awareness and research. May proudly handed over the $15,000 check raised by the event to her Drs. Schulman and Rowley.
May lost her battle with Kawasaki Disease this past November 19, 2008. In her passing, she has donated heart tissue to those same doctors to research and learn more about the disease. May’s family continues to support the doctors, the nurses, the researchers, and the KD families with the Annual “Play for May” event.
