North Suburban Medical Research Junior Board
The North Suburban Medical Research Junior Board (NSMRJB) is dedicated to raising funds for pediatric research to help ensure a healthy and productive future for the next generation.
Founded in 1996, the NSMRJB is an Illinois not-for-profit organization, and serves as a junior board to the Medical Research Institute Council (MRIC). The MRIC, an affiliated organization of Children's Memorial Hospital, has been raising funds for medical research in Chicago since the 1950's. Both the NSMRJB and MRIC work to promote activities and community awareness for Children's Memorial Hospital.

Fundraising
Since its affiliation with Children’s Memorial Hospital in 1996, the NSMRJB has raised more than $1.5 million to fund creative research in an amazing array of disciplines.
In 2010 the NSMRJB completed a two-year $150,000 pledge to support Cardiomyopathy and Autism research.
2011-12 Fundraising Targets
In 2011, the NSMRJB embarked on a new two-year $100,000 pledge to support the important brain tumor research of Dr. Stewart Goldman, one of the nation’s leading pediatric Neuro-Oncologists. He is also Director of the Center for Clinical Trials Research for the Children’s Memorial Research Center and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
In addition, Dr. Goldman serves as a director of the hospital’s Falk Brain Tumor Center, one of the world’s leading centers for pediatric brain tumor diagnosis and treatment. Established in 1986, the center was one of the first of its kind in the nation to create a comprehensive multidisciplinary program, offering specialists in more than 30 pediatric and surgical subspecialties. Last year, the brain tumor team cared for more than 140 new patients and performed more than 100 surgeries.
