The Children's Service Board
In 1986, The Children’s Service Board, previously the Extension Board, became affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hospital – formally uniting a proven volunteer force of 65 women with Chicago’s most respected pediatric health care institution. Since partnering with Children’s Memorial, The Children’s Service Board has become one of the most active and successful philanthropic affiliated organizations supporting the hospital’s mission of health care excellence to children and families throughout Chicago.
In 2008, The CSB made a five-year $3 million campaign commitment to support the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the hospital. This commitment will be fulfilled through the Gold Coast Fashion Award Show, other events and annual giving revenue. In addition, the Board is committed to supporting the creation of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago through major gifts. The 53rd Annual Gold Coast Fashion Award Show was a record breaking event with a sell-out audience of 1,500 guests and raised $585,000 towards the Board’s commitment to surgery.
Events
The Board’s primary fundraising vehicle is the highly successful Gold Coast Fashion Award Show, now in its 54th year and raises over $550,000 annually. Other primary fundraising vehicles include the major gifts and annual giving programs as well as multiple fundraising events throughout the year.
The 54th Annual Gold Coast Fashion Award Show, “Dressed to the Nines” will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at the Hilton Chicago.
