The Siragusa Transplantation Center

Volumes and outcomes

The Siragusa Transplantation Center at Children’s Memorial Hospital consistently ranks among the top pediatric transplant centers in the nation on an annual basis, both in volumes and outcomes. The center performed 49 solid organ transplants in 2008, including eight heart transplants, two intestinal transplants, 19 liver transplants, and 20 kidney transplants, making it the leading pediatric transplant center for volume in Illinois. Our programs remain focused on enhancing the care and outcomes of all patients, providing care to the smallest infants through adolescence and adulthood. The graph below represents the number of transplants performed on all patients by age from January 1988, when the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) began tracking the data, through November 2008. For more information on transplant volumes, see http://www.unos.org/
