Critical care (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)

PICU visitor infomation

Because of current flu concerns, visitation restrictions are now in effect.

Visits by family and friends help the healing process. General guidelines for the critical care units are listed here. Please contact the charge nurse for possible exceptions. Due to limited space, for patient safety and to promote a healing environment, only 3 people (including parents/guardians) are permitted at the bedside at one time.

Healthy parents/guardians

  • Are welcome 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Always check in at the PICU/CICU concierge desk
  • Wear ID bands at all times

Visiting relatives and friends
Send a card or gift to a patient through our gift shop.

  • Are welcome from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day
  • May wait in the PICU lounge if there are 3 people at the child's bedside
  • Should be at least 16 years old, if not siblings
  • Must always be with a parent/guardian, and visitors younger than 16 must always be supervised by an adult
  • Special circumstances apply for siblings younger than 2 – talk to a charge nurse

All visitors

  • Are healthy, with no colds or respiratory illnesses. Learn more about current visitation restrictions.
  • Always wash their hands, before and after entering and exiting the child's bedside.
