- Institute for Sports Medicine - The Institute for Sports Medicine is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of specialists with expertise in the treatment and prevention of the sports-related injuries and medical conditions unique to young athletes. Team members work closely with the athlete's pediatrician to ensure a safe and efficient return to activity.
- Rehabilitative Services (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Orthotics-Prosthetics) - The Rehabilitative Services team at Children's Memorial provides comprehensive care for children ranging in age from birth through adolescence. Our services include consultation, assessment, direct treatment, fabrication and fit of therapeutic devices, and education for patients and their families. Our skilled professionals work to help a child return to their previous functional status or gain the ability to do things the child was not able to learn on their own. We interact closely with other departments and specialty physicians in multidisciplinary clinics. We provide services for inpatients and outpatients.
-
Medical imaging (radiology) - Medical imaging performs about 109,000 procedures each year, including 9,800 MRIs of which 80 percent are done on medically complex and/or sedated children. All of our radiologists are board certified with subspecialty training in pediatric radiology, interventional radiology and/or neuroradiology. All technologists and sonographers are credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or are Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists. Radiation professionals maintain active licenses with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety. Our pediatric nurses are PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified; they are also skilled in venipuncture, bladder catheterization, and patient sedation.
