Congenital Heart Disease
When it comes to your child, and your child's heart, we understand there are no little problems.
At the Heart Center, know your child is being cared for by the Chicago region's leading pediatric cardiologists and cardiovascular-thoracic surgeons. We care for more children with cardiac conditions than any other hospital or medical center in Illinois. Our physicians, nurses and support staff work together to evaluate and care for each child they treat with expertise, compassion and a unique pediatric perspective.
Diagnosing and treating the widest range of pediatric congenital heart defects, pediatric cardiologists may make a diagnosis during fetal echocardiography or after birth due to the finding of cyanosis, an abnormal murmur, abnormal pulses or abnormal tests (such as an chest X ray, or ECG) obtained for other reasons.
Diagnoses are also made after examining a patient who has chest pain, palpitations, breathing difficulty, fainting or dizziness or difficulty exercising.
Our specialists also evaluate and treat acquired heart diseases, including those from rheumatic fever and Kawasaki disease.
