Academic general pediatrics and primary care

Dr. Sabrina Wagner, seen here with Tanzanian children, spearheaded the new program that allows residents to complete a training rotation at a hospital in Mwanza City, Tanzania. Read more.

Our Division of Academic General Pediatrics and Primary Care provides primary care in Chicago's Lincoln Park and Uptown neighborhoods.

Pediatric specialty care is available through this division for:

  • Adolescent medicine, providing a developmental and medical approach to adolescent and reproductive health issues
  • Child Abuse Pediatrics, and a Protective Services Team for evaluation of possible child abuse and neglect
  • Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, providing evaluation and treatment for children with behavior or development concerns including developmental delay, autism spectrum and attention disorders.

  • Lead evaluation, offering care for children with lead exposure and poisoning

  • Nutrition Evaluation Clinic for obesity/overweight and under-weight children

At the main hospital, division faculty members supervise treatment of children admitted for general medicine (non-specialty) care. Physicians also participate in the hospital's ethics and palliative care programs, and provide normal newborn care at Prentice Women's Hospital.
